Azerbaijani alcoholic beverages and drinking water producer Goygol Sharab OJSC plans to expand vodka production, chairman of the Supervisory Board of the company Mammad Akhundov told Trend on Sept. 18.
"We are preparing to expand vodka production. To this end, we intend to purchase and install a new production line. Negotiations are being held with some companies, particularly with Italian and German ones. The capacity of the new line should be approximately 9,000 half-liter bottles per hour," Akhundov said.
The company also plans to expand wine export. The potential buyers are expected to be Chinese, Latvian, Belarusian and Ukrainian companies.
"Our representative was in China, where he held talks with local importers. Now we are preparing a contract for the supply of our products to China. We are also preparing a batch of wine to ship to Belarus," Akhundov added.
The Goygol Wine Plant was founded in 1860. Goygol Sharab OJSC is the legal successor of this enterprise. Last year, the company produced more than 16 million bottles, while in 2016 this figure was 15 million bottles.
In January-August 2018 Azerbaijan exported alcoholic and other beverages for over $9 million, while the import amountede to $58.672 million.
