By Rashid Shirinov – Trend:

Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan have discussed the supply of railcars and locomotives, Kazakh Energy Minister Kanat Bozumbayev said at a meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Parviz Shahbazov, Kazinform reported.

"Now the railway operators discuss the supply of railcars and locomotives with pre-export financing," the Kazakh minister said.

He also noted that Kazakhstan’s exports to Azerbaijan for 8 months of this year increased by more than twice, while imports grew by 75-76 percent.

"It is important that at our request, the Azerbaijani side resumed purchases of Kazakh grain. It has also facilitated the growth of turnover," said Bozumbayev.

The minister specified that Azerbaijan supplies steel structures, ferrous metal products, pipe, etc., which are used in oil operations and modernization of the Tengiz field in the west of Kazakhstan. Meanwhile, Kazakhstan supplies agricultural, engineering and petroleum products to Azerbaijan.

Shahbazov, in turn, said that the two countries have a wide range of mutual cooperation, covering a lot of areas - economy, culture, humanitarian issues, etc.

"Today is the 15th meeting of our intergovernmental commission, where we will summarize the results of the past year. We have a very voluminous and substantial draft document that we are going to sign today," he added.

The Azerbaijani minister also expressed hope that even more work will be done as a follow-up to the last year’s work within the framework of the roadmap.
