$1.7B of investments to be attracted to Kazakhstan's Turkistan region

As much as $1.7 billion of investments will be attracted to the Turkistan region of Kazakhstan, Governor of the region Zhanseit Tuymenbayev said, according to Kazinform.

"This year 163.5 billion tenge of investments were attracted to the region. In order to develop investment and tourism attractiveness, the first international investment and tourism forum "Ancient Turkistan - New Opportunities" was held in Turkistan on September 28,” he reminded.

The governor noted that the forum was attended by over 500 entrepreneurs from 17 countries.

“The forum resulted in signing of 17 agreements – $1.7 billion will be attracted to the economy of the region,” Tuymenbayev said.

The governor further noted that the authorities of Turkistan region, Kazakh Invest national company and Turkistan Invest organization currently support 13 investment projects totaling $615 million. If they are implemented, 3,000 new jobs will be created.
