Azerbaijani producer of organic fertilizers eyes to enter Middle Eastern markets

Agro Bio Eco Tech, a major Azerbaijani organic fertilizer producing company, intends to establish export of its products to countries of the Middle East, the company’s President Ali Alizade told Trend.

He said that intensive negotiations are underway with Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Egypt. In addition, the company has already started operating in Uzbekistan and Georgia, he noted.

Alizade added that there is also high demand for the company’s products in Europe and Turkey. In particular, the company sells its products in Germany and Hungary, he said.

He noted that the overwhelming majority of the products are exported, and the demand in the Azerbaijani market is currently small. However, according to his forecasts, the demand in the local market may increase in 2019.

In 2017, the average grain yield was 29.8 centners per hectare, decreasing by 2.6 percent compared to 2016, according to Azerbaijan’s State Statistics Committee.

Cotton yields declined by 12.1 percent, to 15.2 centners, vegetable yields decreased by 2.3 percent, to 157 centners and sugar beet yields decreased by 36.9 percent, to 309 centners. At the same time, tobacco yields increased by 6.6 percent, to 16.2 centners, potato yields grew 7.1 percent, to 150 centners and grape yields grew 13 percent, to 84.1 centners.
