Economy of Kazakhstan's capital shows growth

Following the results of 2018, the gross regional product of Kazakhstan’s capital Astana, according to estimates, is 6 trillion tenge, 55 percent of which was formed by small and medium-sized businesses, Trend reports with reference to the Kazakh media.

In 2018 industrial enterprises of the city output products and rendered services in the amount of more than 544 billion tenge, an increase of 9.6 percent year-on-year.

In the manufacturing industry, production increased by 12.6 percent compared to 2017. The total volume of cargo transportation in 2018 increased by 9 percent, and the retail trade rose by 6 percent.

In the reporting period, investments in fixed assets in Astana amounted to more than 854 billion tenge. It should be noted that there is an increase in extra-budgetary investments: their share reached about 88 percent of the total investments.

Positive dynamics is also maintained in the construction sector of the city. In 2018, over 2.36 million square meters of housing was built, which constitutes 21 percent of the countrywide figure.
