By Matanat Nasibova – Trend:

The range of products produced by Azerbaijan’s Masalli canning plant decreased, director of the plant Hasan Salimov told Trend on Feb. 5.

“The production of tomato paste and pickled vegetables has been almost suspended at the plant,” he said.

"The production of canned goods at the plant was suspended gradually over the past 2-3 years,” Salimov said. “This decision was made taking into account the economic feasibility of this production line at the plant. During that period, the plant faced financial problems which became a stumbling block for the smooth activity of the plant in terms of the market economy.”

“These problems have been partially resolved, but the production of tomato paste and pickled vegetables has not been restored yet although when we receive an order, we sometimes produce tomato paste," he said.

“The production of tomato paste today is unprofitable because the local market is oversaturated with this type of product,” he said.

"Presently, the plant is engaged in the production of pasta and flour sweets,” Salimov said. “The range of sweets is small, but this section is fully operating. This type of product is sold on the domestic market.”

The Russian and Iranian modern equipment has been installed at the plant.
