Kazakhstan's Turkistan region significantly increases grain production (Exclusive)

The Turkistan region of Kazakhstan produced 612,000 tons of grain in 2018, which is 21.7 percent more than in 2017, the Economy and Budget Planning Department of the region told Trend.

At the same time, farmers of the region produced 2.8 million tons of vegetables, melons and potatoes (15.7 percent up), 117,200 tons of fruit (35.3 percent up) and 75,100 tons of grapes (9 percent up).

In general, industrial enterprises of the Turkistan region produced products for 453.8 billion tenge in 2018.

In particular, the production of mining and quarrying totaled 179.2 billion tenge, and manufacturing products – 236.9 billion tenge.

The manufacturing industry of the region produced food worth 92.5 billion tenge, metallurgical products for 52.8 billion tenge, and coke and refined petroleum products for 19.3 billion tenge.

At the same time, drinks were produced for 9.5 billion tenge, textiles for 6.6 billion tenge, chemical products for 0.4 billion tenge, and other non-metallic mineral products for 11 billion tenge.

It should be noted that the priority directions in the industry of the Turkistan region are metal ore mining, food production, metallurgical industry and engineering.

At the same time, the Turkistan region is the agricultural center of Kazakhstan, as it provides agricultural products to all major regions of the country and neighboring states.
