Over 1M tons of wheat purchased from farmers in Iran

As many as 1.04 million tons of wheat in excess to the plan were purchased from farmers since the start of the harvesting season this Iranian year (started on March 21, 2019), Trend reports with reference to the website of Iran’s Ministry of Agriculture Jihad.

This figure shows a 30.3 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

The cost of wheat purchased from farmers was 18.05 trillion rials (about $429 million). So far, 15.98 trillion rials (about $380 million) have been paid to farmers.

The biggest volume of wheat – 774,000 tons - was purchased from farmers in Khuzestan province.
