One of the carmakers in the city of Tabriz, located in Iran’s East Azerbaijan Province, will begin the production of 14-ton electric trucks, Hossein Nejati, Head of Industry, Mines, and Trade Organization of East Azerbaijan, said at a meeting with heads of car-making and spare part production companies of the province, Trend reports referring to the organization's website.
According to Nejati, the trucks will be produced in Iran for the first time with European technology and will be released within a year.
Nejati added that environmental sustainability, safety and long-lasting usability are the key features of heavy and commercial trucks.
"This truck can drive up to 300 kilometers each time after being charged," he said.
According to Nejati, the power of the electric engine of the truck equals 380 horsepowers and the battery life of the batteries is 2-9 hours.
East Azerbaijan is one of the main centers of production for cars and car spare parts in Iran.
