Trend:

Project of the Caspian Sea water transfer to Semnan Province will cost $2.1 billion and will be carried out during four years, said the CEO of Iran Water and Power Resources Development Co., Trend reports citing ILNA.

"It is expected that the pipe, passing 160 kilometers, will transfer 200 million cubic meters of water to central plateau of Iran," Behrouz Moradi added.

"There was no other way except transferring water. All the illegal wells have been blocked in Semnan Province and all means to save water have been use, so finally Ministry of Energy decided to transfer water," he indicated.

"There have been in depth studies on marine ecosystem and water waste, and pilot projects are underway. Effect of the water transfer on forest and environment was also studied to reduce damages to the least, "he said.

"National Iranian Oil Company has agreed to transfer water from Neka–Rey pipeline route so there would be minimal damages to forest," he added.
