By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

The price hike of gasoline in Georgia is associated with the depreciation of lari and changes in international fuel prices, said the president of the Wissol Group, Soso Pkhakadze, Trend reports with reference to bizzone.info.

According to the president of the company, the reason for the price increase is the rise in international prices at the American agency Platts, which is the main indicator determining the formation of prices on the international market and, secondly, the exchange rate of the national currency in Georgia.

“We conduct procurement of products in US currency, and the sale and receipt of income - in lari. To purchase the next batch, we need to do the conversion and when we do the conversion at a high rate, this is reflected in domestic market, i.e. at the price level in Georgia,” Pkhakadze explained.

At the same time, according to him, at this stage the negative background in the economy has been significantly reduced and a meeting is planned with the National Bank representatives on this issue.

The fuel price has increased by 0.05 GEL at the majority of petrol stations across Georgia.

The price for one liter of regular type petrol at Gulf network is 2.54 GEL, at Socar Petroleum Georgia – 2.53 GEL, Rompetrol – 2.54 GEL, Wissol – 2. 59 GEL.
