Belarus and Uzbekistan intend to sign agreements aimed at deepening cooperation in the production of agricultural machinery, Trend reports citing Belarusian media.

Advisor to the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Chairman of the Board of JSC "Uzagrotechsanoat Holding" Nodir Otazhonov informed that the parties plan to sign agreements on industrial cooperation of enterprises, which produce agricultural and municipal equipment, during Forum of Regions.

As Otazhonov noted, the country intends to work with the Minsk Tractor Plant, the Minsk Motor Plant, Amkodo, and Gomselmash, as the country is interested in the production of tractors with a deep level of localization. It is planned to then export the vehicles to the markets of third countries including Afghanistan and Pakistan.

He added that a draft agreement with Gomselmash has been prepared with the purpose to manufacture a wide range of products in Uzbekistan.

In addition, the Uzbek side signed a contract with Bobruiskagromash JSC for the supply of up to 1,000 agricultural machines per year with a vision of in-depth cooperation. Production will be divided by both countries to reach localization of about 50 percent.

The First Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan is being held in Minsk July 29-30, 2019, within the framework of the official visit of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Belarus.

The program of the forum covers three major areas: industrial cooperation, the agro-industrial complex, and interaction in the humanitarian, information and communication, and scientific fields.

During the section on the agro-industrial complex, it is planned to discuss not only trade and economic cooperation, but also partnership in the veterinary field, the field of animal husbandry and breeding, crop production, and agricultural education.

The main theme of the plenary session to be held on July 30 will be the cooperation of the regions as a key factor in the development of interstate relations.
