Iran to commission gold processing plant in West Azerbaijan Province

A gold refinery will be commissioned during the Iran Government Week (August 24-30) in Khoy County of Iran’s West Azerbaijan Province, Managing Director of West Azerbaijan Industrial Parks Company (subordinate to Iran Small Industries and Industrial Parks Organization) Ali Abdoli told IRNA, Trend reports.

According to Abdoli, the gold refinery has been built on a 12.9-square meter area, and 104.1 billion rials (app. $2.48 million) have been invested in the project. He added that the commissioning of the refinery will provide 81 people with jobs.

Abdoli noted that two industrial projects will be launched in industrial parks Khoy and Urmia counties. Meanwhile, the foundations of two new industrial parks will be laid in Salmas and Miandoab counties.

"The foundations for a solid silicon project in the metallurgical industry will be laid in this industrial park with an investment of 2.65 trillion rials (app. $63.2 million)," he said.

He noted that the facility will be built on an area of ​​200,000 square meters and will provide jobs for 1,200 people.

Abdoli went on to say that 7.5 trillion rials (app. $178.5 million) will be invested in the production of various vegetable oils in Urmia Industrial Park.

Furthermore, he added that an industrial facility comprised of 50 industrial enterprises will be created on a 35-hectare area in Salmas County with an investment of 240 billion rials (app. $5.7 million), along with another industrial facility comprised of 70 industrial enterprises, which will be created on a 30-hectare area in Miandoab County with an investment of 250 billion rials (app. $5.95 million).

There are 25 industrial parks and enterprises operating in Iran’s West Azerbaijan Province.

On August 30, 1981, Iranian President Mohammad-Ali Rajai and Prime Minister Mohammad-Javad Bahonar, along with a number of other government officials, were killed as a result of a terrorist bombing in the Prime Minister's office. The Iranian government instated August 24-30 as the Iran Government Week in commemoration of the event.
