Iran imports auto parts via Chabahar Port

Iran intends to import auto parts and required raw material for auto industry through Chabahar Port with the support of the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, said Deputy Head of Iran's Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) Mohammad Ali Hassanzadeh, Trend reports citing ILNA.

"The Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade has assigned the import of 50 percent of basic goods to two big public companies via Chabahar Port, which is the biggest port in the country linked to the ocean," he said during a meeting to coordinate auto parts imports.

The official emphasized the need to solve related issues and importance of cooperation between domestic auto makers and customs administration in Chabahar to facilitate the discharge of imported goods.

Meanwhile, the head of Ports and Maritime Organization in Sistan and Balouchestan province stated that there are no limits in receiving imports goods and cargo ships. "Chabahar Port has the capacity to discharge and load up to 8.5 million tons of goods," said Behrooz Aghaie.

"To this end, 30 strategic facilities have been added to Chabahar Port to facilitate loading and unloading operation. Shahid Beheshti Port in Chabahar has the capacity to harbor ocean liners and it has no limits in terms of ship sizes," he added.

At the meeting, it was agreed to provide incentives to reduce costs of the auto parts imports via cooperation of PMO with other organizations.
