Foreign trade of Iran's Kurdistan province exceeds $2B

Foreign trade of the Kurdistan province in western Iran for the five months (March 21-August 22) of this Iranian year (started March 21, 2019) amounted to $2.27 billion, said Mohammad Bakhtiar Khalegi, deputy chairman of the Industry, Mines and Trade Organization of the province, Trend reports with reference to the organization’s website.

He said that trade turnover decreased by 10 percent in terms of weight and by 10 percent in terms of value.

He added that exports of the Kurdistan province increased by 10 percent in terms of value and by 13 percent in terms of weight in comparison with the same period last year.

He said that 857,000 tons of products worth $507 million were exported from the province during this period.

He noted that 482,000 tons of products worth $276 million were exported through the customs of the province and 374,000 tons of products worth $230 million - through other Iranian customs.

“About 9,000 tons of products worth $14 million were imported in five months,” he said. “This shows a 110-percent increase in terms of weight and a 26-percent decrease in terms of value compared to the same period last year.”

He added that 677,000 tons of goods worth $1.75 billion were transited through the borders of the province during the five months.

“This shows a 10 percent decrease in terms of weight and a 12 percent decrease in terms of value compared to the same period last year,” he said.
