Cargo transshipment volume from Russia via Turkish ports exceeds 34M tons

In August 2019, the volume of transshipment of goods from Russia through Turkish ports amounted to 34,248,693 tons, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

During the said period, the volume of transshipment of goods from Russia by ships flying the flag of Russia amounted to 3,846,962 tons, and to 28,329,577 tons accounted for ships flying under the flags of other countries, the ministry noted.

It was noted that the transshipment of goods from Russia by ships under the flag of Turkey amounted to 2,072,154 tons for the indicated period.

Moreover, 1,441,520 tons of goods were sent from Russia through Turkey to other countries in transit, and 4,601 ships with a gross-registered tonnage of 58,316,380 tons arrived in Turkish ports.

During this period, 1,978,000 vessels arrived in Turkish ports under the flag of Turkey, and 2,623,000 vessels under the flags of other countries.

The gross register tonnage of vessels arriving at Turkish ports under the Turkish flag amounted to 9,630,723 tons, and to 48,685,657 tons for vessels under foreign flags.

In January-August 2019, Turkish ports received 35,716 ships, the gross tonnage of which amounted to 516,701,650 tons.

Furthermore, the gross register tonnage of vessels arriving at Turkish ports under the flag of Turkey amounted to 76,956,730 tons, while that of vessels flying the flags of other countries amounted to 439,744,920 tons.
