Over 10 aerodromes to be constructed in Kazakhstan

Some 13 aerodromes is planned in Kazakhstan over the course of next five years, the Minister of Industry and Infrastructural Development of Kazakhstan Beibut Atamkulov said, Trend reports with reference to the press office of the ministry.

Furthermore, according to the minister, flights from Kazakhstan to cities such as Shanghai (2020), Singapore (2020) and New York (2021) are planned for launch.

“The ministry is taking measures for increase of attractiveness of flights to the country and a number of foreign air carriers are planning on entering Kazakh market. Thus, Qatar Airways (Doha city, 2020), Emirates (Dubai, 2021), China Eastern (Shanghai, 2021), Ural Airlines, Pobeda and other aircompanies are to start operating in Kazakhstan,” Atamkulov noted.

According to him, introduction of freedoms of the air is planned in airports of Nur-Sultan, Almaty, Shymkent, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Pavlodar, Kokshetau, Taraz, Petropavl, and Semey. Furthermore, all foreign air companies will be granted fifth freedom of the air for implementation of flights to prioritized finance centers.

“The work on increase of transit passenger traffic is being carried out. Measures for development of light aircraft are being taken for stimulation of internal tourism,” he added.

Currently three aerodromes of local airlines (Usharal, Urzhar, Zaysan) are operating in the country. The Bayanaul aerodrome is also in the process of being put into operation at the moment. Construction of another 13 aerodromes is overseen over the course of next five years.

Overall, according to Atamkulov, the growth of main civil aviation indicators is observed in the country. Volume of transit passenger traffic increased by 45 times during last seven years. This number is to be increased to one million transit passengers this year.
