BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 7
By Anastasia Savchenko - Trend:
Starting from 2020, 60 rail cars, i.e. 12 trains, will be delivered to Baku Metro CJSC over the course of three years, Head of the Baku Metro Press Service Bakhtiyar Mammadov told Trend.
"This year, Baku Metro and Russia's Metrovagonmash OJSC signed a long-term contract for three years, according to which, each year, starting from 2020, Baku Metro will receive four trains, or 20 rail cars," Mammadov said.
Mammadov emphasized that these rail cars are purchased to replace those that will be decommissioned.
"If the term of operation of a train has expired, on the same day a new train will be put into operation to replace it; this is the law of Baku Metro," Mammadov added.
Metrovagonmash OJSC, currently part of Transmashholding, has been a partner of Baku Metro CJSC since 1966.
In 2015, Baku Metro acquired three new trains (15 rail cars), in 2018 - two trains (10 rail cars), and in 2019 - six trains (30 rail cars) produced by Metrovagonmash OJSC.
