Iran's olive oil production is projected to increase by 20 percent this Iranian year (beginning on March 21, 2019), executor of the olive oil production project of the Iranian Agriculture Ministry Rahmatulla Perichehr said.
“Some 7,000 tons of olive oil were produced last Iranian year, while 8,400 tons are planned to be produced this year,” Perichehr added, Trend reports referring to the ministry’s website.
The project executor added that 92,000 hectares account for olive orchards in Iran.
"This year, 120,000 tons of olives were harvested and a 20-percent increase was observed compared to last year," Perichehr said.
“A club of olive producers was set up to increase productivity to harvest more than five tons of olives from each hectare,” the project executor said.
