Uzbekistan may apply import tariffs for IDS Borjomi International

Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Badriddin Abidov held talks with IDS Borjomi International Sales Director Yan Gromyko, the largest producer of natural mineral water, a leader in the category of bottled water in the CIS and Baltic countries, Trend reports citing press service of the Ministry.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss prospects for cooperation and further development plans for the company, whose representative office in Uzbekistan was opened last year.

In addition, representatives of IDS Borjomi International raised the issue of applying tariff measures in relation to mineral water imported to Uzbekistan.

Following the talks, the parties agreed on further cooperation and interaction on a number of issues.

The parties noted an increase in the volume of trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Georgia. So, for 11 months of 2019, trade between the countries amounted to $112 million, which is $58 million more than in the same period in 2018.

In accordance with the Agreement on free trade between Uzbekistan and Georgian governments on September 4, 1995, the parties provide each other with a free trade regime and do not apply customs duties in mutual trade.

IDS Borjomi International is an international company with offices in 5 countries, exporting its products to more than 40 countries.

Today the company unites: Georgian IDS Borjomi Georgia, Ukrainian IDS Borjomi Ukraine, Russian IDS Borjomi Russia, Belarusian IDS Borjomi Belarus, as well as the representative office of IDS Borjomi Europe (Vilnius, Lithuania).

The company owns 8 bottling plants in the Russia, Ukraine and Georgia. The company employs about 7,000 employees.
