Uzbekistan, Belarus expand co-op in textile industry

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan. 28

By Ilkin Seyfaddini – Trend:

A delegation of Belarusian State Concern Bellegprom led by Concern Chairman Tatyana Lugina is visiting Uzbekistan from January 26 through 30, 2020, Trend reports citing the Uzbek media.

The visit of Belarusian textile industry representatives to Uzbekistan was organized with the assistance of Uztextilprom Association. This is the second visit of the concern's administration to Uzbekistan in the last four months. In September 2019, Tatiana Lugina presented the Belarusian textile industry at the International Textile Conference within the framework of Global Textile Days Tashkent 2019.

According to the current visit's program, the delegation will hold negotiations with the management of Uztextilprom and Uzcharmsanoat associations, visit a number of enterprises and brand shops, and get acquainted with the activities of Kor-Uz Textile Technopark.

During the meeting at the Uztextilprom Association on January 28, the parties discussed issues of expanding mutual cooperation. Belarusian side presented proposals related to purchase of yarns for the needs of the enterprises of the Bellegprom Concern; expansion of production cooperation, mutual supplies of raw materials, semi-finished products and finished goods; and possibility to open multi-brand shops of Bellegprom concern enterprises on the territory of Uzbekistan.

In recent years, Uzbek-Belarusian relations have intensified considerably, with regular contacts between the leaders of the two countries serving as an important foundation for their development. Prospective areas of cooperation have been outlined at the summits in Tashkent and Minsk, as well as at various international summits.

The Memorandum of Understanding signed between Uztextilprom Association and Bellegprom Concern in September 2019 is a basis for strengthening bilateral cooperation in the textile industry, the report said.

According to the results of 2019, the amount of textile products exported to Belarus from Uzbekistan reached $24 million.
