BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 14

By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

In the framework of the Georgian program "Produce in Georgia" in 2020-2021, it is planned to attract foreign direct investment in the total amount of $225 million, Trend reports with reference to Georgian media.

On February 14, 2020, Director of the Produce in Georgia agency Mikhail Khidureli made a presentation at which he delivered an annual report and spoke about the Agency's future plans.

According to him, the agency will do everything necessary to create 3,500 new highly paid jobs in the country.

"The plans for 2020-2021 include attracting foreign direct investment in the amount of $225 million, which will create 3,500 new highly paid jobs. In particular, 350 target companies with which we will continue negotiations should be selected. We will make investment offers to these companies and the visits of their representatives to Georgia will be organized," said Khidureli.

According to him, the agency is working to ensure that Georgia is always represented in sector ratings.

Since 2020, the Georgian Produce in Georgia program has been amended and new priority areas identified.

As reported, the vector “Produce in Georgia” will be more focused on economic development in the regions of the country. The emphasis will be placed on small and medium-sized businesses in the regions, as well as on industries such as fishing, ceramics and the development of tourism services and balneological resort areas.

In addition, the priorities of the program will include such areas as the development of exporting and import-substituting enterprises.

The Produce in Georgia program was created in the summer of 2014 to stimulate local production and offers two main incentives: financial resources and infrastructure (land, buildings, and so on). In April 2017, the agency of the same name was created, which combined all state programs aimed at promoting business and economic development of the country.
