Kazakhstan triples pharmaceuticals export within industrialization roadmap

Within the framework of major measures taken in Kazakhstan to diversify country’s economy the output in pharmaceuticals production increased six times, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development.

Thus, over the course of industrialization roadmap implementation in Kazakhstan the pharmaceuticals output in Kazakhstan increased from 19.9 billion tenge ($46.9 million) to 92 billion tenge ($217.1 million) due to increase of antibiotics, alkaloids, and medical devices production.

The ministry said that pharmaceuticals industry became export-oriented in record breaking time. Export of pharmaceuticals industry increased by three times, from $18.9 million to $58.9 million.

For the most part, goods of Kazakhstan’s pharmaceuticals industry are exported to Russia (39 percent), Kyrgyzstan (16 percent), Turkey (7.9 percent), Mongolia (7.4 percent) and other countries.

Within the framework of industrialization roadmap, some 41 projects the investments into which amounted to 62.9 billion tenge ($148.4 million), were implemented.

The ministry said that the import projects of the industry are: expansion of production capacities and modernization of pharmaceutical factories; construction of pharmaceutical plants for the production of pharmaceuticals and medical devices.

Projects with participation of big investors are also overseen within the framework of the industrialization roadmap.
