Special committee on foreign exchange set up in Iran

A special committee on foreign exchange has been set up to develop Iran's non-oil exports, said said Hamid Zadboum, Deputy Minister of Industry, Mining and Trade of Iran and Chairman of the Trade Development Organization, Trend reports citing official website of the organization.

According to the report, the committee includes Acting Minister of the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade, deputies of the Trade Development Organization of Iran and representatives of the Central Bank of Iran.

According to Zadboum, Iranian Trade Promotion Organization, Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade, Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, National Development Fund, Planning and Budget Organization, Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance, Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration, Ministry of Agriculture Jihad and the Central Bank of Iran will cooperate for providing currency import and on barter (import in exchange for export).

Zadboum added that a support package has been developed in this regard, which envisages increasing exports to 15 countries around Iran, members of the Eurasian Economic Union, China, India, Syria and Lebanon.

The official said that the support package envisages the provision of 1 billion euros from the National Development Fund of Iran as a loan by banks for 2 years to facilitate exports.

Iran exported 5.34 million tons of products worth $1.65 billion, excluding crude oil in the first month of current Iranian year (March 20-April 19, 2020).
