The first steam unit of Iran's Assaluyeh Combined Cycle Power Plant with a capacity of 160 MW will be inaugurated on June 4 via a video conference, Thermal Power Plants Holding Company (TPPH) Managing Director Mohsen Tarztalab announced, Trend reports via IRNA.
“The steam unit of Assaluyeh Combined Cycle Power Plant will be put into operation, back by investment worth $533 million,” Tarztalab said.
He added that more than 85 percent of the project equipment has been manufactured domestically.
"Some 2,300 people have been directly and indirectly employed through this project," he said.
He added that the efficiency of the power plant has increased by 50 percent, increasing electricity supply to the national grid, as well as reducing environmental pollution, as well a increasing the efficiency of electricity production.
Tarztalab has estimated the total capacity of Assaluyeh power plant as 1,452 MW.
“The power plant includes 6 gas units and three steam units,” he said.
Iran’s total power generation capacity stood at 80,000 MW in the past Iranian calendar year (March 2018-March 2019), up from the 78,484 MW of the preceding year.
According to a report by Tasnim news agency, the country’s power generation capacity is set to reach 85,695 MW by the end of the current Iranian calendar year.
Currently, a total of 478 thermal power plants are operating throughout Iran which include both gas power plants and combined cycle plants.
