Azerbaijan's agricultural production shows modest growth

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 12

Agricultural products worth over 2.1 billion manat ($1.2 billion) were produced in Azerbaijan from January through May 2020, Trend reports citing the report of the State Statistical Committee.

Over the reporting period, the country’s agricultural production increased by 3.6 percent compared to the same period of 2019.

The cost of plant products in the country increased by 5.3 percent over the year and amounted to 443.2 million manat ($260.7 million).

According to the report, the value of livestock products increased by 3.2 percent on an annualized basis, having surpassed 1.7 billion manat ($1 billion).

In 2019, the value of agricultural products produced in Azerbaijan amounted to 7.8 billion manat ($4.5 billion). Last year, the value of plant origin products exceeded 3.7 billion manat ($2.1 billion), while the the value of animal origin products amounted to 4 billion manat ($2.3 billion).
