Largest copper producer of Uzbekistan boosts production of non-standard equipment

Uzbekistan’s Almalyk Mining-Metallurgical Complex (AMMC) manufactured 2,054 tons of non-standard equipment from January through May 2020,Trend reports with reference to AMMC.

"The goal of the forge welding workshop for 2020 is to produce 3,200 tons of non-standard equipment. For the five months of 2020, the plant has fulfilled this task by more than 64 percent," the message said.

In addition, 470.3 tons of electroslag remelting was carried out, and over 196 tons of equipment have been repaired during the past period.

In the first quarter of 2020, AMMC exported products worth $173.3 million, the growth rate was 82.1 percent compared to the same period of 2019, and the plan was fulfilled by 118.8 percent.

The plant's geography of supplies includes countries such as Russia, Ukraine, Germany, France, Greece, the Netherlands, Italy, Turkey, Iran, India, China, UAE, Egypt, Qatar and others.

Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex is the only copper producer in Uzbekistan. The plant accounts for about 90 percent of silver and 20 percent of gold production in the country. In August 2018 the state assets of the enterprise were transferred to SFI Management Group.

The plant plans to invest $250 million in a project to expand the production of non-ferrous and precious metals at its deposits.
