No obstacles for development of Tehran-Baku economic relations

There are no obstacles for the development and continuation of trade and economic relations between Tehran and Baku, the Chief of Staff of the President of Iran Mahmoud Vaezi said.

Vaezi made the remark during his phone conversation with Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev, Trend reports citing IRNA.

The parties reviewed the current situation of the coronavirus pandemic and stressed the importance of joint efforts to combat the virus.

The sides emphasized that there are no obstacles in the field of continuation of economic and trade relations between Azerbaijan and Iran in compliance with health protocols.

“Despite the coronavirus outbreak, trade and transportation relations between the two countries continued,” said Vaezi.

Opening of the joint borders of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan in recent months has increased the volume of transport between the two countries, said the report.

Vaezi and Mustafayev also expressed confidence in bringing the level of trade relations between the two countries to the volume of the pre-coronavirus period as soon as possible.

During the phone call, issues related to the completion of the North-South International Transport Corridor was also discussed.

The two sides stressed the strategic importance of this economic project and exchanged views on the measures taken in this regard.
