Turkmenistan’s Dashoguz region completes planting of autumn potatoes

Turkmenistan’s Dashoguz region has completed the planting of autumn potatoes on 1,100 hectares of land, Trend reports with reference to “Zolotoy Vek” (Golden Age) newspaper.

Dashoguz region's Gurbansoltan-eje and the Saparmurat Niyazov districts were the main areas for planting potatoes. So,autumn potatoes were planted on 600 hectares of land in Gurbansoltan-eje district, while 300 hectares of land were allocated for potato culture in Saparmurat Niyazov district.

Some 29,400 tons of potatoes have already been collected from the Gurbansoltan-eje district, and 10,500 tons of potatoes have been collected from the Saparmurat Niyazov district since the beginning of 2020.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan will sign a contract with Russia’s Veya Investments Limited for the purchase of 14,000 tons of winter potato seeds

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov highlighted the need to increase the production of vegetable and fruit crops at one of the last meetings of the Cabinet Of Ministers.

Agriculture is one of the most important branches of Turkmenistan's economy. The main types of agricultural crops are wheat, cotton, rice, sugar beet, fodder, vegetable and fruit crops.
