As a result of large-scale reclamation and irrigation measures 191,900 running meters of works were carried out in the Azerbaijani Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic from the beginning of July 2014 to the same month of 2020 to combat mudflows and floods, Trend reports citing the State Statistics Committee. According to the committee, targeted measures taken in the AR in the agriculture sphere and the creation of modern irrigation systems ensured the sustainable development of this area.
State Statistics Committee data said that over the period from 2014 to 2020, 456,900 running meters of collector and drainage networks were built, reconstructed and restored. Also, during this period, construction and reconstruction of irrigation canals took place at a distance of 912,100 linear meters.
Along with these measures, the land reclamation condition was improved on an area of 7,800 hectares, as well as water supply was improved on an area of 4,900 hectares.
The construction of a pumping station, as well as closed irrigation networks in the villages of Türkesh, Salasuz, Maralik, Shahbuz district and the village of Boyukduz, Kengerli district, will create new opportunities for the development of the agricultural sector in the Autonomous Republic.
