Value of Azerbaijan's industrial production declines

The volume of industrial production in Azerbaijan amounted to 27.8 billion manat ($16.3 billion) in the past 9 months of 2020, Trend reports referring to the report of the State Statistics Committee.

According to the committee, over the reporting period, the volume of industrial production decreased by 4.5 percent, compared to the same period of 2019.

Meanwhile, production in the non-oil sector rose by 10.8 percent, while production in the oil sector edged down by 6.1 percent.

From January through September this year, in the mining sector, industrial production made up 60.1 percent of the total volume, in the processing sector – 33.8 percent, in the production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam - 5.2 percent, and in the water supply, waste treatment and processing sector - 0.9 percent, the committee noted.

In the processing sector, the production of pharmaceutical products surged by 8.2 times, the metallurgical production – 1.7 times, the production of cars, trailers and semi-trailers - by 1.7 times, machinery and equipment – 59.4 percent.

Production of computer, electronic and optical products grew by 39.7 percent, paper and cardboard production – 30.4 percent, clothing – 29.2 percent, printing products – 24.7 percent, chemical products – 20.1 percent, rubber and plastic products – 16.4 percent, and tobacco products - by 13.5 percent.

The production of foodstuffs declined by 1.8 percent, finished metal products - by 2.1 percent, leather and leather goods, footwear - by 5.3 percent, oil products – by 5.5 percent, electrical equipment – by 9.6 percent, drinks - by 9.8 percent, furniture production - by 26.6 percent, work on installation and repair of machinery and equipment - by 41.8 percent.

In the sphere of production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam, production increased by 8.7 percent, while water supply, waste treatment and processing decreased by 2.8 percent over the year.

In 2019, Azerbaijan’s industrial production showed growth by 4.3 percent.
