Turkmenistan, UNDP agree on mutual understanding on co-op

Turkmenistan and the representative office of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Turkmenistan signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation, Trend reports with reference to the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment Protection of Turkmenistan and the UNDP office in Turkmenistan also signed agreed work plans for 2021 on a number of projects, including on ensuring the sustainability of the socio-economic condition of the population engaged in agriculture in the arid regions of Turkmenistan in connection with climate change and on sustainable urban development in Turkmenistan: integrated development of green cities in Ashgabat and Awaza cities.

In addition, The State Committee for Water Management of Turkmenistan signed a work plan for 2021 for the project on renewable energy sources for efficient use of energy resources and sustainable management of water resources in Turkmenistan with the UNDP in Turkmenistan.

Earlier, Turkmenistan and the UNDP discussed draft Work plans for 2021.

The UNDP program in Turkmenistan promotes innovative agricultural practices in the country.

Earlier, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment Protection of Turkmenistan and the UNDP signed an agreement on the project “Sustainable Cities in Turkmenistan: Integrated Green Urban Development in Ashgabat and Awaza"

The goal of this project is to widely use "green" technologies in construction, promote ecotourism, as well as waste management, recycling, and recycling.
