Iran, Azerbaijan discuss preferential trade agreement

TEHRAN, Iran, Dec. 22

The third round of talks on the detail of the "Preferential Trade Agreement" between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan was held by video conference today on Tuesday.

This meeting was attended by representatives of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, various departments of the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan, and representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs. Trend reports citing IRNA.

Two sides have reviewed the text of the agreement via video conference.

In line with the will of the political leaders of the two countries to develop and deepen bilateral economic relations, the parties agreed on the proposed text and relevant considerations.

According to IRNA, it is hoped that the next round of talks will be held at a higher level with the aim of finalizing the text to be signed by the relevant ministers of the two countries in the near future.

The plan to sign a preferential trade agreement between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan was sat on the sidelines of the visit of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Baku last year on the sideline of the Non-Aligned Movement summit.
