Iran unveils details of imports

Iran imported 25 million tons of goods worth $26.8 billion during the first 9 months of the current Iranian year (March 20 through December 20, 2020), Director General of Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), Mehdi Mirashrafi said, Trend reports citing IRICA.

The director general noted that the imports decreased by 16 percent in terms of value and 1 percent in terms of volume within 9 months, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

He added that 25 million tons of imported products accounted for essential products.

Mirashrafi emphasized that Iran imported 2.6 million tons of goods worth $7 billion from China and 3.5 million tons worth $6.3 billion from the UAE over the reporting period.

According to him, Iran also imported 3.5 million tons of goods worth $3 billion from Turkey, 1.8 million tons worth $1.6 billion from India and 911,000 tons worth $1.3 billion from Germany in 9 months.

The director general said that Iran also transited 5.2 million tons of goods to neighboring countries during nine months. The transit decreased by 10.9 percent in terms of volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.

“Iran's foreign trade turnover amounted to 110 million tons worth $52 billion in the first nine months,” he said.
