The moratorium on commercial sturgeon fishing in the Caspian Sea has been extended by the end of 2021.
This decision was made at a meeting of the Commission for Caspian Sea Water Biological Resources held in a virtual form, Trend reports.
According to the decision, sturgeon fishing can be carried out for fish farming and scientific research.
The representatives of the Caspian littoral states presented reports on the use of water biological resources at the meeting. According to reports, the resources in the Caspian Sea have decreased compared to last year.
The volume of fishing in accordance with the type for 5 Caspian littoral countries for the next year was determined at the meeting.
Kazakhstan will head the Commission for Caspian Sea Water Biological Resources for two years as of 2021. In 2019 and 2020, the commission was headed by Iran.
