Large amount of state property privatized in Turkmenistan for several years

Some 557 state-owned objects were privatized from 2010 through 2021 (including from January through February 2021), Trend reports with reference to Turkmenportal information portal.

Of the above-mentioned 557 objects, 155 were privatized through investment tenders, 402 were sold at auction.

Some 29 percent of the income received by the budget due to the privatization of property is accounted for transport services and cargo storage, 26.5 percent-processing industries, 20 percent-wholesale, and retail trade, 7 percent-operations with real estate, 5 percent-forestry, agriculture, fishing, and 5 percent-the privatization of construction sector facilities, and the remaining 7.5 percent-the sale of property of other activities.

In addition, 32 percent of state property was privatized in Ashgabat, 8 percent in the Akhal region, 11 percent in the Balkan region, 10 percent in Dashoguz, 22 percent in Lebap, and 17 percent in Mary.

Special attention is paid to the privatization of state-owned objects, attracting foreign investment, and supporting private entrepreneurship in Turkmenistan.

Also, a list of a number of state-owned objects subject to privatization was prepared earlier in Turkmenistan.

The list was prepared by the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan together with the subordinate organizations, municipal administrations of the regions, and the capital of the country after the relevant analysis.

The Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan conducts auctions for the sale of state property.
