Iran boosts value of exports

The value of Iran's exports increased by 6 percent (about $193 million) in the 12th month of last Iranian year (February 19 through March 20, 2021), compared to the 11th month (January 20 through February 18, 2021), Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing the administration’s website.

According to Latifi, Iran exported 2.06 million tons of goods worth $855 million to China in 12th Iranian month. This is an increase of 1 percent in terms of value and 20 percent in terms of volume compared to the 11th month.

Latifi added that Iran exported 1.56 million tons of goods worth $516 million to Iraq in 12th month. The exports increased by 8 percent in terms of value compared to the 11th month.

“In 12th month, Iran exported 1.29 million tons of goods worth $454 million to the United Arab Emirates. The exports to the UAE increased by 3 percent in terms of value and 11 percent in terms of volume,” he said.

The spokesman emphasized that Iran exported 422,000 tons of goods worth $281 million to Turkey in the 12th month. This is an increase of 35 percent in terms of value and 155 percent in terms of volume compared to the 11th month.

Latifi noted that Iran exported 571,000 tons of goods worth $199 million to Afghanistan in the 12th month. The exports to the Afghanistan increased by 7.5 percent in terms of value compared to the 11th month.

The official stressed that Iran exported 5.91 million tons of goods worth $2.3 billion to the five countries in the 12th month. So, these countries accounted for 69 percent of Iran's total exports in terms of value and 64 percent in terms of volume.

“The value of Iran's foreign trade turnover amounted to $7.45 billion in the 12th month. Thus, it increased by 9.4 percent (about $641 million) compared to the 11th month,” he said.
