Georgian pistachio has great potential in the country and abroad due to its quality, said President of Georgian Pistachio Association Otar Anguridze, Trend reports via East Fruit portal.
As he noted, it has been about 5 years since the popularization of this culture in the country.
"Pistachio gardens are growing every year and is about 3-4 years Georgia will have pistachios of local production. If we compare pistachios with other walnut crops, we can say that Georgian pistachios have a great perspective on the international market. Georgian fruit has special taste due to the good climate and water, which increases its competitiveness on the world market," said Anguridze.
Meanwhile, world production of pistachios is approaching a record high and leading countries are expanding production.
