Georgian Minister of Agriculture talks success of German businesses

The success of German business in Georgia can become an additional incentive to attract new investments, said Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia Levan Davitashvili, Trend reports via Georgian Ministry of Agriculture.

He made the remark at the first thematic online meeting on agricultural cooperation between Georgia and Germany held within the framework of the Georgian-German Business Dialogue, established at the initiative of the Georgian Embassy in the Federal Republic of Germany and with the support of German industry agencies.

As reported, at the webinar, which was attended by about 100 participants, speakers highlighted the successful cooperation between the countries in the field of agriculture and the possibility of increasing the export of Georgian agricultural products to the German market.

Davitashvili in his speech stressed the importance of deepening trade relations between the two countries.

“First of all, I would like to thank the German government for the years of supporting Georgia's agriculture. Cooperation between Georgia and the German Republic is a vivid example of friendly and fruitful relations. German business in Georgia is successful, which may become an additional incentive to attract new investments. We need to fulfill our obligations under the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA). Georgia has great potential for agricultural production. I will be glad if we are allowed to deepen cooperation in the field of improving irrigation infrastructure, food security, and control, as well as raise the level of education of farmers,” Davitashvili said.

According to the ministry, during the dialogue, the minister spoke about the possibilities of increasing agricultural products, including the export of wine, as well as about the innovations of the Project for the Development of the Greenhouse Cluster of the Imereti Agrozone and urged investors to show interest in the project.

In the format of the Georgian-German online business dialogue on agriculture, Georgian Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany Levan Izoria spoke about the prospects for deepening trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

According to the German Ambassador to Georgia Hubert Knirsch, Georgia is an important partner for Germany. In his speech, the ambassador expressed his desire to invest and deepen partnerships in the field of agribusiness.
