IRICA unveils data of Iran’s trade turnover with Germany

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 17

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

Iran exported 39,200 tons of goods worth $233 million to Germany over the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing the administration’s website.

The official emphasized that Iran's exports to Germany decreased by $127 million compared to 4 years ago (from March 21, 2017 through March 20, 2018).

“In addition, Iran imported 1.25 million tons of goods worth $1.85 billion from Germany within the last Iranian year,” he added.

Latifi noted that Iran's imports from Germany decreased by 40 percent in terms of value and increased by 19 percent in terms of volume compared to four years ago. The reason for the decline in the value of imported goods is the ban on the sale of luxury goods, household appliances and cars in Iran.

According to him, Iran's trade turnover with members of the 5 + 1 group (Russia, China, the US, France, Britain and Germany) amounted to 38.6 million tons worth $24 billion during the last Iranian year. So, Iran's exports to these countries amounted to 28 million tons worth $9.83 billion, while imports from these countries amounted to 10.5 million tons worth $14.2 billion in the last Iranian year.

The spokesman said that Iran's trade turnover with these countries has decreased by 19 percent in terms of value and 14 percent in terms of volume compared to four years ago.

As reported, Iran's total foreign trade turnover amounted to about 146 million tons worth $73 billion in the last Iranian year. During this period, Iran exported 112 million tons of goods worth about $35 billion and imported 33.4 million tons worth $38.4 billion.

The nuclear deal between Iran and the 5 + 1 group came into force in 2016. In 2018, the US announced its withdrawal from the deal.
