Cost of products sold in Azerbaijan's retail outlets up from early 2021

The total cost of products sold in Azerbaijan’s retail outlets from January through April 2021 made up 12 billion manat ($7 billion), which is by 0.1 percent less compared to 4M2020, Trend reports referring to the Azerbaijani State Statistical Committee.

According to the committee, the turnover of food, drinks, and tobacco products amounted to 6.6 billion manat ($3.8 billion) and non-food products – 5.4 billion manat ($3.1 million).

In the first four months of 2021, the cost of sold food products increased by 2.2 percent while non-food products decreased by 4.8 percent on annual basis.

Some 49 percent of the funds spent by buyers from January through April this year accounted for food, 13.7 percent - textiles, clothing, and footwear; 4.8 percent - furniture and electrical appliances, 8.1 percent of the total spent funds - the purchase of gasoline, 2.4 percent - pharmaceutical and medical products, 0.7 percent - computers, telecommunications equipment, and printing products.

Some 17.4 percent of the share of the total amount accounted for other non-food products in the first 4 months of 2021.

Meanwhile, the average monthly retail trade turnover per capita amounted to 300.4 manat ($176.7).
