About 126,000 tons of rapeseed have been purchased from farmers in Iran under a guarantee from April 6 to Aug 3, Director-General of the Internal Procurement Department of the Government Trading Corporation of Iran (GTC) Morteza Saadati Kia said, Trend reports citing the corporation’s website.
The director general noted that the value of purchased rapeseed is about 13.4 trillion rials (about $318 million), which has been paid to farmers fully.
Saadati Kia added that the process of purchasing rapeseed from farmers in Iran will be completed soon.
“Furthermore, 111,000 tons of rapeseed have been purchased from farmers in Iran by the private sector,” he said.
Reportedly, rapeseed has been planted on 350,000 hectares in Iran in the current Iranian year and 600,000 tons of rapeseed are estimated to be harvested.
One kilogram of rapeseed is purchased by the Government Trading Corporation of Iran for 110,000 rials (about $2.61).
