Iran`s customs transit raises

An official with the Islamic Republic of Iran's Customs Administration announced 96 percent increase in foreign transit through Iran in the first quarter of the current Iranian year (Started on March 21).

"Shahid Rajaei Special Economic Zone with a growth of 46 percent from 819,000 tons in the first quarter of the last Iranian year to 1.197 million tons in current year, achieved the top rank of customs transit in Iran,” An official with the Islamic Republic of Iran's Customs Administration Arezou Ghaniun said, Trend reports citing IRNA.

“Bashmaq Customs with growth of 538.14 percent, Sarakhs with a growth of 25,000 percent, Bazargan with a growth of 249 percent are in the second to fifth rank.”

Customs transit is a customs procedure used to move goods. between two points of a customs territory, via another customs territory; or. between two or more different customs territories.

Ghaniun stated that in the first four months of the current Iranian year (started on March 21), the export of non-oil goods was equal to 38.032 million tons, worth over $ 14.338 billion, which means an increase of 27.5 percent in weight and 64.87 percent in value compared to the same period last year.

She went on to say that the amount of the country's imports in the same period, experienced an increase of 5.54 percent in weight and 32.69 percent in value compared to the same period last year.

Ghaniun noted that the amount of import in the first quarter of the current year (started on March 21) was 12.5 million tons worth $14.5 billion.

“Shahid Rajaei Special Economic Zones, Pars Energy, Bandar Emam well as Khosravi, Bazargan, Shalamcheh, Parvizkhan, Bashmaq and Mehran customs had the share of 76 percent of the total value of the country's non-oil exports amounting to $10.8 billion,” she added.
Customs official announced the import of 91 percent of total imported goods into the country via 10 customs.

“The top 10 imported customs in terms of value belong to the special areas of Shahid Rajaei, Imam Khomeini Port, Amirabad, Bushehr, Chabahar, Anzali as well as Customs of Bazargan, Imam Khomeini Airport, Shahid Bahonar and Tehran,” she said adding that the share of these customs was accounted for about 89 percent of the total weight and 91 percent of the total value of the country's imports during the first four months of the current Iranian started on March 21).

She also noted the volume of foreign trade in the first quarter of the current Iranian year.

Noting the rising trend of foreign trade, she emphasized the need to modernize and improve facilities, equipment, technologies, monitoring devices such as X-ray and gamma ray and provision of eligible manpower in customs.
