Uzbekistan, UAE to establish business council

Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates signed an agreement on establishing a Business Council within the framework of the Uzbek-Emirates Business Forum, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.

Representatives of the largest Emirati companies arrived in Tashkent to participate in the event: DP World, Abu Dhabi Ports, Masdar, Mubadala Health, VPS Healthcare, DAMAC, Kanoo Group, Julphar, Al Rais Travel and Tourism.

The UAE delegation was headed by Minister of Economy Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri. He noted the high level of cooperation between the countries, as well as the dynamics of an increase in the number of joint investment projects.

According to Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov, today the country has investment potential in agriculture, logistics, textile, mining, electrical, pharmaceutical, jewelry industries, as well as in the field of privatization.

A number of documents were signed at the forum. In particular, Uzbekistan has joined the World Logistics Passport (WLP) international trade promotion program.

The WLP loyalty program is based on partnerships between traders, forwarders and local organizations to secure trade in exchange for direct benefits. Today, the WLP network includes countries in Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
