Iran's imports decreased by 29 percent in terms of value and 18 percent in terms of volume, in the 7th month of the current Iranian year (September 23 through October 22, 2021), compared to the 6th month (August 23 through September 22, 2021), the Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing the administration.
According to Latifi, Iran's imports for the reporting period amounted to 4.36 million tons worth about $4.62 billion.
“So, Iran imported 949,000 tons of goods worth $1.29 billion from the UAE, 373,000 tons worth $1.06 billion from China, 382,000 tons worth $426 million from Turkey, 177,000 tons worth $135 million from Switzerland, as well as 37,000 tons worth $134 million from Germany in the 7th month,” he added.
The spokesman also noted that the transit of goods through Iran amounted to 1.09 million tons in the 7th month. This is an increase of 52.5 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, the figure stood at 716,000 tons in the same month last Iranian year.
The customs official emphasized that Iran's trade turnover for the 7th month of the current Iranian year amounted to 19.5 million tons worth $9.88 billion.
Reportedly, Iran's foreign trade turnover for the seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2021) amounted to 98 million tons worth $54.8 billion. The trade turnover increased by 43 percent in terms of value and 16.5 percent in terms of volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
So, Iran exported 75.2 million tons of goods worth $27.1 billion in 7 months, which is an increase of 47 percent in terms of value and 15 percent in terms of volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
In addition, Iran imported 23.5 million tons of goods worth $27.7 billion within the mentioned period, which is an increase of 38 percent in terms of value and 21 percent in terms of volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
