Iran eyes increase in exports from Bilasuvar border checkpoint

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 23

The exports of Iran through the Bilasuvar border checkpoint in the Ardabil Province (north-western Iran) increased by 78 percent in terms of volume, during first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General of the Road and Transport Department of Iran’s Ardabil Province, Kalimollah Vosughi said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

The director general noted that in total, 322,000 tons of goods were exported by 14,474 trucks through the Bilasuvar border checkpoint over the reporting period.

The director general added that 283,000 tons of Iranian goods were exported by 12,574 Iranian trucks, while 39,000 tons - by 1,900 trucks from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Russia, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan.

“The exported goods were mainly various agricultural products, various glass materials, DSP (particle board), gasoline, fittings, construction materials, ceramics, dates, salt, and profile,” he said.

Moreover, 301,000 tons of goods were transited by 13,685 trucks through the Bilasuvar border checkpoint in 8 months, which is an increase of 143 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year, Vosughi noted.

According to him, the transited goods were mineral water, cement, MDF, DSP, gypsum, biscuits, rice, various clothing, profiles and salt.
