Trend:

Iran is planning trilateral projects with China and Sri Lanka, said Iran's ambassador to Sri Lanka Hashem Ashjazadeh, Trend reports via ILNA.

"Chinese companies are busy with various projects in Sri Lanka, so the Iran-China cooperation will allow for opportunities to run trilateral projects," he said.

Ashjazadeh noted though that this issues will require a lot of planning and reviewing.

Speaking about the Iran-Sri Lanka ties, the ambassador said that there are ongoing negotiations between Iran and Sri Lanka for importing gasoline and fuel from Iran.

"Iran is looking to develop its ties with Sri Lanka, once the debt payment issues are solved," he said.

Iran annually imports more than $70 million worth of tea from Sri Lanka, and part of this amount will be imported by Iran as substitute for Sri Lanka's debt to the Islamic Republic.
