BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 21. Some 31,200 tons of goods worth $56.8 million were imported through the customs of Iran’s Golestan Province in the north-east of the country, during the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through February 19, 2023), Director General of Golestan Province Customs Office Ebrahim Hosseini said, Trend reports, citing the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

“The imports via the province’s customs for the reporting period decreased by 3 percent in value, while increased by 81 percent in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year,” the director general said.

Hosseini added that the main imported goods were soybean oil, generators, fabrics, barley feed, etc.

According to him, the mentioned goods were imported from 16 countries, mainly from Türkiye, Turkmenistan, China, Kazakhstan, and India.

Hosseini noted that the revenues of the province’s customs for 11 months amounted to about 2.13 trillion rials (about $50.7 million), which is an increase of 189 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Meanwhile, Iran's total foreign trade turnover amounted to about 146 million tons worth $73 billion in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021). During this period, Iran exported 112 million tons of goods worth $34.5 billion and imported 33.4 million tons worth $38.4 billion.
