Iran boosts local auto manufacturing

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 6. Iran’s manufacturing of various vehicles (including passenger cars, pick-up trucks, buses and minibuses, vans, trucks and trailers, and so on) increased by 21.7 percent in the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.

Data from the Iranian Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade shows that a total of 762,619 various vehicles were manufactured in Iran within seven months.

In the same period of the previous Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2022), the figure stood at 626,619.

In the 7th month alone (September 23 through October 22, 2023), Iran produced 119,637 various vehicles, showing an increase of 16.9 percent compared to 102,363 units in the same month of last Iranian year.

Overall, approximately 1.35 million vehicles, including passenger cars, pick-up trucks, heavy trucks and trailers, vans, buses and minibuses, and so on, were manufactured in Iran during the previous Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), a 39 percent increase over the previous year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).

There are three giant car manufacturing companies—Iran Khodro, Saipa, and Pars Khodro—operating in Iran. By implementing various projects, Iran intends to increase manufacturing in the auto industry.
