Iran records decline in aluminum exports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 13. Iran’s aluminum and related products exports dropped by 31 percent in value and 24 percent in volume in the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.

Data from the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) shows that Iran exported $643 million worth of aluminum and related products, weighing 285,000 tons for nine months.

In the same period as the previous Iranian year, the country's export of aluminum and related products stood at 375,000 tons, worth approximately $926 million.

Overall, Iran exported around 46.8 million tons of minerals and mining products, worth approximately $9.77 billion, over the course of nine months, representing a 4.94 percent growth in value and a 30.7 percent growth in volume from the same period last Iranian year.

Iran’s efforts to boost its non-oil exports amid the US sanctions that limit its oil sales. Iran’s non-oil exports include all products except crude oil, mazut, and white oil.

The latest data from the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) shows that Iran exported about 102 million tons of non-oil products worth $36.4 billion in the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2023). This represents a 0.68 percent drop in value but a 26.5 percent rise in volume compared to the same period last year.
